SOUTH BEND – Average retail gas prices in South Bend fell 23.4 cents per gallon in the past week according to a release from GasBuddy, a website that tracks national gas prices.

The average price Sunday, June 16, was $3.98 a gallon according to a GasBuddy daily survey of 210 South Bend gas outlets. The drop comes after prices rose to $4.22 a gallon June 9.

The national average fell 2.1 cents per gallon last week to $3.61 a gallon, according to GasBuddy.

“The national average has continued its downward decline in the last week, likely being helped by relief in the Great Lakes, a region that had been plagued with refining issues that have seemingly been resolved,” said Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst for GasBuddy.
