Elkhart Police Department to hold ten-week Citizen Academy program
The Elkhart Police Department will hold a ten-week Citizen Academy program starting July 9.
Sessions will be once a week on Tuesdays from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
Lesson topics throughout the program will include the justice system, criminal investigations, defensive tactics and professional standards. All classes are taught by Elkhart Police personnel.
According to a statement of intent, the program aims to provide attendees with basic information on how the department operates on a daily basis.
The program will end Tuesday, Sept. 24, with a graduation ceremony.
Those interested can call the police department’s services division at 295-7070 ext. 402. Enrollment applications are mailed on request or can be picked up at the front desk of the police station at 175 Waterfall Drive.
