Names of bus drivers released in North Webster school bus crash
NORTH WEBSTER — The names of the four bus drivers involved in Wednesday’s school bus crash have been released by the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department F.A.C.T. team.
Cynthia K. Routh, 64, of North Webster, the driver of the lead bus, initially stopped to allow a student off of the bus. Routh was followed, in order, by drivers David W. Granger, 63, of Warsaw; Julie K. Close, 47, of Syracuse; and John R. Wagoner, 61, of North Webster. Wagoner’s bus collided with Close’s bus, causing the accident.
Officials from Parkview Regional Medical Center told the sheriff’s department that Wagoner is out of surgery and is in stable and fair condition after suffering internal injuries. Close is reported to be in fair condition with an unspecified injury to her leg. There has been no update to the number of students injured from last night’s estimates.
The crash is still under investigation.
The crash injured 55 people, including three of the four bus drivers, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Chad Hill said. He said more than 100 students from Wawasee School Corp. were on the buses when the accident occurred about a mile north of North Webster, which is about 40 miles west of Fort Wayne.
