LoveWay Inc. thanked founder Sandy Weatherwax for her vision and untiring efforts at its annual Derby Day Auction on Saturday.

Derby Day, patterned after the Kentucky Derby, was held in the Crystal Ballroom at the Lerner Theatre in Elkhart and featured a live and silent auction. The event raised $72,285 to help LoveWay continue providing therapeutic services to the Michiana community.

Board member and former rider Chris Ball presented Weatherwax with two dozen roses and told her that LoveWay has initiated a Wall of Fame. It will annually recognize a champion for LoveWay’s mission to provide therapeutic horseback riding to those with special needs. Sandy and Gary Weatherwax will be the first to be recognized on the Wall of Fame
