GHS building trades class open house Saturday
GOSHEN — The house that some Goshen High School students built through the school year will be on display this Saturday, May 4, from 3 to 6 p.m.
The 23 students in the high school’s two building trades classes built the home at 1219 Northstone Road, Goshen, in Clover Trails subdivision, said Adam Young, the classes’ instructor. The students started their work in August after the start of school and have just a bit of work, including some touch-up painting, to do in the next couple days before the open house.
Students do about 85 percent of the work on the house, including the framing, roofing, electric work, flooring and assisting with plumbing, heating and cooling work.
The house is already sold, Young said. The open house gives people a chance to “just see all the hard work the students have done,” he said.
Money from the sale of each year’s house goes toward scholarships for students and to pay for next year’s building materials.
