Concord JHS raises $33K for Make-A-Wish
ELKHART — Students and staff at Concord Junior High School raised more than $33,000 for Make-A-Wish during March.
The campaign, held every other year at the school, raised $33,739 this year for local children suffering from life-threatening illnesses, according to a news release from Make-A-Wish.
Among this year’s recipients is Simon Blanchard, a Wakarusa kindergartener with leukemia.
Simon’s wish is to visit Walt Disney World with his family.
This year, Concord Junior High added a 5K run/walk event to the fundraising lineup. Other events included shirt and candy bar sales, a faculty Italian dinner and a family night with silent auction.
Concord Junior High has raised more than $297,000 to grant local childrens’ wishes since it began fundraising for the organization in 1995.
