GAAG: Goshen Board of Public Works and Safety

Key action: Approved promotion of Mario Mora from the rank of Patrolman to Detective. The promotion was made retroactive to Friday, March 29, 2013.

Other action: Approved a change order for the Rogers Park pavilion fire damage repair.

Zehr Construction will be extending the siding to the underside of the roof and installing the grout on the column caps.

The board also granted an extension for the completion date due to the cold weather which has prevented the required painting and scheduling of a crane to install a cupola.

The increase to the contract is $2,134 for a total contract cost of $165,117.

Ÿ Amended the agreement with Brads-Ko Engineering to expand an active survey to include the property at 113 Steury Avenue, as well as the properties to the north and south.

As a result of spring rains and other unknown factors, the property has been surrounded by standing water on the north side of the building.

The increase to the contract is $2,070 for a total contract price of $8,710.

Ÿ Granted permission to the Legal Department to enter city requirements onto the state of Indiana’s website to purchase road salt for the 2013-2014 winter season.

The city plans to purchase 1,300 tons of salt to be bid out by the state.

Ÿ Accepted an agreement with Alexander Chemical Corporation for the purchase of hydrofluosilicic acid at $787 per ton for a term through Dec. 31, 2013.

Ÿ Opened bids on lawn mowing, cold water meters and sidewalk and curb replacement and referred the bids to the Legal Department, Utilities Department and Engineering Department for recommendations.

Ÿ Granted permission to the Engineering Department to advertise for bids for the seeding of Mill Street Park and Indiana Avenue property. Bids will be due April 22, 2013.

ŸAccepted modified street closures for April, May, June and August First Fridays.
