GOSHEN — First Fridays will help welcome spring with A Green Day Frolic on Friday, April 5.

The Frolic, a 5K run and 2K fun walk, will be the featured event of April’s First Fridays and is open to anyone.

Participants are encouraged to wear green outfits. Prizes will be given for best times across multiple age groups as well as best costume.

Registration for the race is $15 before Sunday, March 31; $20 until Thursday, April 4; and $25 the day of the race.

There is a special student rate of $10 and runners and walkers can pay $2.50 for a “Green Day Awesome” t-shirt.

Registration and check-in begins at 4:30 p.m. at the corner of Lincoln Avenue and Main Street, near the south side of the Elkhart County Courthouse. The race will start at 6 p.m.

Those wishing to join the race may register at cityonthego.org.

Other entertainment on the bill for April’s First Fridays will be provided by Dance in the City.

The talents of children in four classes in the Parks and Recreation program will be on display, as they dance to various ballet and modern numbers.

Jubilant Jumpers will also be providing bounce houses for children on the courthouse lawn.

While downtown, patrons may visit the food court at the corner of East Lincoln Avenue and Main Street, which will feature selections from Little Jimmy’s Italian Ice, South Side Soda Shop, Ben’s Pretzels and the Exchange Club of Goshen.

Goshen City Church of the Brethren will provide breakfast for dinner with a meal of pancakes and sausage. A musical performance by the Boomer Boys will accompany the meal.

The event is free, but donations will be accepted.

The Window will also be hosting a meal sponsored by Greencroft Goshen knitting group, “Knitters and Knotters.”

For a suggested donation of $8, the group will provide a stroganoff dinner, homemade desserts and a beverage.

Various knitted articles will also be available for purchase.
