ELKHART — For the third year, the Elkhart Fire Department celebrated St. Patrick’s Day by dyeing the Elkhart River green.

About 50 people watched as firefighters changed the color of the river on Saturday, March 16. The department used the ladder on Truck 18 to reach further out across the river at the waterfall across from the main fire station.

The department used 10 gallons of the biodegradeable dye to achieve the effect, according to Lt. Jim Rodino.

Seminarians gather outside the chapel on the grounds of The General Theological Seminary after morning prayers, Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014, in New York. More than two-thirds of the faculty at the seminary, one of the nation’s oldest, most venerable religious institutions that trains ministers of America’s Episcopal Church, say they were fired earlier this week after going on strike to protest their dean’s leadership.
