GOSHEN — A new scale will be installed at Elkhart County’s landfill.

“The outbound truck scale at the landfill had some difficulty passing its yearly certification in December of 2012,” landfill manager Kim Davis wrote in a letter to the county commissioners. “Both local truck scale suppliers inspected the scale this January and have deemed the scale to be at the end of its useful life.”

The commissioners accepted a bid Monday, Feb. 18, for roughly $48,000 from the Steinhoffer Scale Company to replace the landfill’s scale.
