Fourteen schools throughout northern Indiana and southern Michigan will compete in Five Star Life’s Amazing Race to the Top on Saturday.

Students who participate in the after-school program will compete against other schools as they travel to different locations to complete tasks as quickly as possible.

The event starts with the kick-off rally at 8:40 a.m. at Southgate Church in South Bend.

From there, students will travel to several locations, including the East Race, Concord Mall and Island Park. As they travel to different locations, students will also participate in trivia, “Minute to Win it” and group game challenges.

The groups will meet back at Southgate Church by 3:20 p.m., where the “2013 Amazing Race Champion” will be named. Winning students will receive a t-shirt and a trophy to put in their school’s trophy case.

Students have also been collecting food items to donate to the food pantry at Southgate. Last year more than 1,000 items were collected.
