ELKHART — A fire today, Jan. 26, caused extensive damage to a mobile home in the Highland mobile home park off Osolo Road in northern Elkhart.

The blaze was called in around 2:10 p.m., according to the Elkhart Fire Department call log. Burning food on the stove sparked the fire, and it caused heavy damage to the structure, according to Tony Pigors, manager of 1-800-BoardUp, the company called to board up the home’s windows and entry points.

The fire caused no injuries but displaced the family living there, who went to stay with friends, Pigors said. Elkhart fire officials weren’t immediately available for comment.

Highland is located in the 1900 block of Osolo Road.
