ELKHART — The Economic Development Corporation of Elkhart County has a new phone number and — more importantly — a new office location.

Staff members and others spent much of Friday moving from the group’s longtime office in Goshen to its new home on Nibco Parkway across from the Nibco Water and Ice Park in downtown Elkhart.

EDC had outgrown its former office at 102 W. Lincoln Ave. in the First Source Bank building in downtown Goshen, said Dorinda Heiden-Guss, president of EDC.

The new office will provide numerous benefits, she said.

The new location is at 300 Nibco Parkway, Suite 201, in the Old National Bank building.

The new office phone number is 293-5627, which translates into 293-JOBS.

EDC is the economic development arm of the county.

Maui County voters will decide in the next few weeks whether to ban the cultivation of genetically engineered organisms, at least temporarily. A “yes” vote on the Nov. 4 ballot initiative would require large multinational companies that research new varieties of corn and soybeans in Maui to stop farming until they are able to prove their methods are safe. This could upend global agriculture giant Monsanto’s research pipeline for new varieties of corn and soybeans. (AP Photo/The Maui News, Matthew Thayer)
