Third House legislative updates start Saturday

Third House meetings featuring Elkhart County's delegation to the Indiana statehouse start this coming Saturday at the Elkhart and Goshen chambers of commerce.

The Third House meetings offering Elkhart County residents a chance to meet with the local delegation of Indiana state lawmakers will soon resume.

The Goshen Chamber of Commerce will hold its first Third House meeting of 2013 at 8 a.m. Saturday at its offices, 232 S. Main St., Goshen. The Greater Elkhart Chamber of Commerce will launch its initial Third House meeting on Saturday as well, starting at 10 a.m. at its offices, 418 S. Main St., Elkhart.

Members of Elkhart County’s legislative delegation are invited to the Third House meetings, providing them the opportunity to talk about what’s happening at the statehouse. Likewise, the meetings offer the public the chance to meet their state representatives and senators and ask them questions. Legislators do not necessarily attend all meetings.

The Goshen chamber plans to hold future Third House meetings on Feb. 9, Feb. 23, March 9, March 23, April 6, April 20, May 4 and May 18, all Saturdays, all starting at 8 a.m.

The Elkhart chamber plans future Third House meetings on Feb. 23, March 23 and April 20, starting at 10 a.m.

The delegation of lawmakers representing portions of Elkhart County includes Sens. Carlin Yoder of Middlebury, Joe Zakas of Granger and Ryan Mishler of Bremen. Also representing Elkhart County are Reps. Tim Neese of Elkhart, Wes Culver of Goshen, Tim Wesco of Lakeville, Rebecca Kubacki of Syracuse and David Ober of Albion.

All the lawmakers are Republicans.
