GOSHEN Council postpones redistricting vote

Goshen city council tables redistricting discussion again to Feb. 5 meeting.

The Goshen city council decided to table the discussion on setting council districts until its Feb. 5 meeting.

With multiple proposals in hand, the council chose to postpone a vote in order to reach a better understanding of the plans.

The postponement continues a discussion begun in December, when the council first broached the subject at a public meeting.

Several counter-proposals have been made since then, but Mayor Allan Kauffman has said that proposals should be considered only if they fall under the 16.44 percent population deviation that would be established by the legal department’s original proposal.

By almost all accounts, Brown was engaged in some sort of physical struggle with Ferguson police Officer Darren Wilson just moments before he was fatally shot. That confrontation, perhaps more than anything, may help explain why grand jurors ultimately decided not to indict Wilson for killing Brown.
