Honorary street pays tribute to first Goshen postmaster

GOSHEN — Goshen will host a ceremony for a new honorary street commemorating the city’s first postmaster.

The ceremony to name Bissell Way is at 1 p.m. Saturday. The new street is a former alley located north of the Goshen Post Office, intersecting with West Wilkinson Street between N. First Street and New Street.

Bissell Way is named in honor of Goshen’s first postmaster, William Bissell.

Goshen’s first post office was established on Jan. 12, 1832, with William Bissell as postmaster.
