GOSHEN — The Elkhart County Council will consider a $300,000 appropriation on Saturday that would aid the county’s highway department in extending C.R. 17 south to C.R. 40.

The Elkhart County Board of Commissioners approved the funds Monday that would be used to acquire right of way between C.R. 38 and C.R. 40. Once built, that section would be a two-lane road in the southern part of Goshen.

This undated booking photo provided by the Madera, Calif., County Jail shows Roel Soliz, 29. Soliz is one of five inmates who escaped from the jail in the Central Valley city of Madera, Calif., late Friday, Sept. 19, 2014. The five were being held on various charges including attempted murder and armed robbery. It's unclear how the men, who are believed to be gang members, escaped from the jail. Authorities say all five men should be considered armed and dangerous. (AP Photo/Madera County Jail)
