Anytime Fitness opens in Goshen

Posted on Jan. 7, 2013 at 12:00 a.m.

GOSHEN — Linway Plaza is home to a new Anytime Fitness, the gym chain open to members 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

A grand opening celebration, ribbon cutting and 13-hour sale is from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Jan. 11, with the official ribbon-cutting ceremony to take place at 4 p.m. During the 13-Hour Grand Opening Sale, $13 enrollment and $13 key fee will be offered, and club tours will also be available.

“I think a lot of people in Elkhart County are interested in what they can do to better their health situation,” said Joel Koeneman, co-owner and manager of the new location. “I think word is spreading that it’s something that is for everyone, not just for fitness gurus or health nuts, so to speak.”

Roy and Christine Pickler from Middlebury, former contestants on NBC’s “The Biggest Loser,” will also be working with members. The couple will teach a 13-week “Biggest Winner Weight Loss Challenge” beginning Tuesday. Those looking to participate must be a member of Anytime Fitness by that date.

The Picklers will share knowledge and experience gained from participating on “The Biggest Loser,” such as causes of and solutions to all elements of permanent weight gain and loss.

“I’m glad about the movement towards healthier lifestyles in the community,” said Koeneman. “We have people of all fitness levels coming into the gym looking to improve their health and I think that at the end of the day that’s what it’s all about.”
