ELKHART — Republicans are scheduled to meet Jan. 3 to choose a replacement for Elkhart City Councilman Kyle Hannon, according to Dale Stickel, Elkhart County Republican Party chairman.

Anyone interested in seeking Hannon’s seat on the council is urged to submit a declaration of candidacy to Stickel by 7 p.m. Dec. 31.

Hannon was an at-large representative. Republican precinct committeemen from Elkhart will make the selection during a caucus set for 7 p.m. Jan. 3 at the Time Was Museum, 125 N. Main St.

Hannon announced his resignation last week after he was named president of the Greater Elkhart Chamber of Commerce.
