Elkhart County Parks now accepting entries for annual photo contest

The Elkhart County Parks is accepting entries for its annual photo contest.

ELKHART COUNTY — The Elkhart County Parks is now accepting entries for the 33rd annual photo contest.

Photographers of all ages and skill levels are welcome to enter up to three photos per category. The deadline for submissions is 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2013.

Photos can be submitted at the Elkhart County Parks office, 211 West Lincoln Avenue in Goshen, or at the Information Desk inside Concord Mall in Elkhart.

Awards will be given in the form of gift certificates, which total $500. All entries will be on display in the community room at Concord Mall from Friday, Jan. 25 to Friday, Feb. 1.

The categories are:

Ÿ In The Air. This category includes photos of clouds, fog, rainbows and other atmospheric subjects. Photos do not have to be taken within Elkhart County Parks.

Ÿ Nature of the Photo. These photos show the beauty of plants and wildlife. Photos do not have to be taken within Elkhart County Parks.

Ÿ Activities in the Parks. Photos submitted for this category can include visitors, facilities, staff or landscapes of any of the Elkhart County Parks.

Ÿ Youth. Photos can fit any of the three existing categories, but photographers must be 16-years-old or younger to qualify. Photos will be judged in one of the three above categories and then separated for the Youth category.

Entry forms are available in the Elkhart County Parks Office in Goshen. They are also available at Concord Mall, ABC Warehouse, The Picture Show and Wal-Mart on C.R. 6 in Elkhart, ShutterHug Custom Framing in Goshen, Stone Soup Emporium and Bonney and Clyde’s Soda Shop in Bristol, Gene’s Camera Store in both Mishawaka and South Bend and Lighthouse Imaging in South Bend.
