Customers rush to save

Posted on Nov. 23, 2012 at 12:00 a.m.

GOSHEN — Shoppers flooded Walmart on Elkhart Road in Goshen on Thursday night in anticipation of early Black Friday deals.

By 7:30 p.m., row upon row was filled in the parking lot of customers waiting for the special deals that would begin at 8 p.m.

Some shoppers had gone early in hopes of beating the rush, but even showing up before the deals didn’t equate to simpler, easier shopping.

Shopper Tiffany Denman was one of those who tried to get to the store before the masses poured in. Denman and her family had arrived at Walmart about three hours before the deals went live.

“Crazy,” she said when describing her experience even before the Black Friday deals became available.

Luckily for her, she said she’d already finished Christmas shopping for her son and was, at that point, just waiting on some of her family to make some purchases.

They were nowhere to be seen, however, and it appeared that Denman, and everyone else in the store, was most likely going to be in for a long evening.
