Community invited to church’s Thanksgiving Akathist Friday

Posted on Nov. 13, 2012 at 12:00 a.m. | Updated on Nov. 13, 2012 at 1:00 p.m.

This year’s akathist, a hymn of thanksgiving or supplication, was written by Archpriest Gregory Petrov in the 1940s. Petrov was inspired by the martyr Saint John Chrysostom, who said “Glory to God for everything.”

On Saturday, Nov. 17, Molly Sabourin of Ancient Faith Radio will speak from 10 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 3 p.m. at the church. Registration for her presentations begins at 9:30 a.m. and is encouraged but not required. Sabourin will speak about being saved, finding salvation and sharing Christ’s love with others.

All events are free and the community is welcome to attend.
