ELKHART — Jennifer Lynn Stanley and Derek Michael Drews were married Aug. 18, 2012, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Elkhart by Pastor Mark Dicken.
The bride’s parents are Gary and Sandy Stanley of Elkhart. The groom’s parents are Mike and Carrie Drews of Elkhart.
Michelle Ridenour, the bride’s sister of Osceola, was matron of honor. Erin and Annie Drews, the groom’s sisters of Elkhart, Wendy Krause of Traverse City, Mich., Heather Grindem of Royal Oak, Mich., and Emily Owens and Kim Miller, both of Elkhart, were bridesmaids. Cassidy Riddle of Plymouth and Brooklyn Chenoweth of West Lafayette, the bride’s cousins, were flower girls.
Shawntés Gary of Elkhart was best man. Cole Ridenour, the bride’s brother-in-law of Osceola, Spencer Williamson of Elkhart, Devin Kipp of Battle Creek, Mich., and Brad Culver, Chase Healey and Travis Walerko, all of Elkhart, were groomsmen. Cameron Riddle, the bride’s cousin of Plymouth, was usher.
The bride wore a silver sixpence given to her by the groom’s grandmother in her shoe.
The reception followed the ceremony at Palais Royale in downtown South Bend. The couple honeymooned on the Caribbean island of St. Lucia and live in Mishawaka.
The couple met in the sixth grade when the groom’s family moved two doors down from the bride. They had dated nearly 10 years by the time they were married. In front of 25 relatives, the groom proposed on the pier at the bride’s parents’ lake house with a banner asking her to marry him on a pontoon boat passing by.
