A movie that was filmed in Goshen will premiere at the River Bend Film Festival on Thursday, April 3, in South Bend.

'Sand Castles' follows Noah (played by producer and writer Jordon Hodges) and his family as they come to terms with the mysterious return of his younger sister, who was kidnapped and held captive for 10 years. The movie was filmed in Goshen in 2012 with the help of locals and the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department acting as extras and police officers in the film.

However, 'Sand Castles' is not the only film to use Elkhart County as its backdrop.

Did you know the following films were also filmed in the county?

Elsewhere (2009)

Elsewhere is a 2009 thriller set in Goshen. After telling Sarah (played by Anna Kendrick of "Pitch Perfect) that she has been meeting men online, Jillian (played by Tania Raymond of "Lost") goes missing. The only clues about her whereabouts are in Jillian's diary and a cryptic video message that is left on her phone. However, the residents of this movie's Goshen would rather forget that Jillian existed than find her.

The movie was filmed in Goshen and New Paris in Elkhart County, according to the Internet Movie Database.

You can watch the full movie for free at Hulu.com or purchase the movie from Amazon.com.

Lonesome Jim (2005)

Steve Buscemi also used Goshen as one of the backdrops for his 2005 comedy "Lonesome Jim". The film follows Jim (played by Casey Affleck of "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford") who returns to his parent's home in Indiana after a car accident lands his brother in the hospital. To escape his dysfunctional family, Jim coaches a local girls' basketball team and befriends a local woman (played by Liv Tyler of "The Lord of the Rings" movies) and her son.

Some of the film's scenes were shot in the former Elkhart County Jail and South Main Street in Goshen. The rest of the film was shot in Cromwell and Ligonier in Noble County, according to the Internet Movie Database.

You can rent or purchase the movie at Amazon.com.
