ELKHART — The Parish Church of St. David of Wales, a parish of the Episcopal Diocese of Northern Indiana, is celebrating its 50th anniversary.

The church, 26824 C.R. 4, will hold mass at 10 a.m. Sunday, March 2, with the Right Rev. Edward S. Little, bishop of northern Indiana, administering the sacrament of Holy Confirmation followed by lunch and a reception during his annual visit for the parish’s patronal feast. At 5:30 p.m., the parish will offer Evensong with the Right Rev. Francis C. Gray as the guest homilist. Gray is a retired bishop of northern Indiana.

St. David’s Parish was founded 50 years ago as a mission of the St. John the Evangelist Parish on Lexington Avenue when church leaders decided to reach out to the Simonton Lake and northwest areas of Elkhart County. The parishioners held a groundbreaking service March 1, 1964.

The church will celebrate its golden anniversary throughout 2014 with special concerts May 4 and Sept. 12 plus “An Advent Procession of Lessons and Carols” on Nov. 30. For more details, visit stdavidelkhart.org.
