John and Sherry Weaver celebrating golden wedding anniversary

    ELKHART — John and Sherry (Papa) Weaver are celebrating their 50th anniversary this month.

    They were married by the Rev. Carl Richardson at St. John's Episcopal Church in Elkhart on June 9, 1964.

    John retired as a teacher and a coach after 38 years and worked as an author. He is a volunteer coach for the Elkhart Central wrestling program. Sherry is a retired DreamsWork scholarship/mentoring coordinator and for the last seven years has been an Elkhart volunteer mentor for DreamsWork.

    They have three girls, Theresa (Kurt) Hochstetler of Goshen and Jennifer(Chris)Higgins and Kristen (Rich) Egnor, both of Elkhart.

    They have six grandchildren, Cody and Cassidy Higgins, both of Elkhart, Sophia Hochstetler of Goshen, and Jacob, Lukas and Sarah Egnor, all of Elkhart.

    They will celebrate later in the summer with a family trip to Mackinac Island, which has been a favorite family vacation spot. They are active members of Trinity United Methodist Church in Elkhart.
