Gordon and Phyllis Bacon celebrate 70 years of marriage

    The couple will be honored during a reception/open house in June.

    GOSHEN — Dr. Gordon and Phyllis Bacon are celebrating their 70th anniversary next month.

    There will be a reception/open house to honor them from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 1, at Brenneman Memorial Missionary Church, 61115 S.R. 15 N., Goshen. They request no gifts.

    Gordon and Phyllis were married in Sharon, Wis., on June 2, 1944.

    They have three sons and one daughter, Ron (Debra) Bacon of The Villages, Fla., Joel (Carol) Bacon of San Antonio, Robert (Carol) Bacon of Maxwell, Iowa, and Barbara (Dr. David) Cling of Miami.

    They have 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

    Dr. Bacon served 17 years as pastor of various churches, including Beulah Missionary Church. He served as district superintendent for six years. He served at Bethel College for 16 ½ years.

    Phyllis retired from Field Enterprises Educational Corp., where she served as district manager for 12 years.
