School leaders make 'Ice, Ice, Baby' weather cancellation video

The only way to conquer this winter is to laugh about it.

Posted on Feb. 14, 2014 at 11:47 a.m.

With the winter we're having, we all need a good laugh.

The leaders of Durham Academy, a PreK-12 school in North Carolina, decided against the typical, boring "school's closed AGAIN" announcement Wednesday, Feb. 12.

They made a rap video instead.

Seeing two guys in suits bop around and do a school closure announcement to the tune of "Ice, Ice, Baby" just made my day. It also made a lot of other people laugh too, judging by the two million views it's gotten in a couple of days.

This video is proof that we don't always have to take ourselves so seriously. Yeah, school's closed. For the billionth time this year. Why not have some fun with it?

I'd love to see something like this done by school administrators in Elkhart County.

Everyone's tense. Students have to make up a bunch of missed days. Parents have to rearrange their plans for summer or spring breaks. Indiana's education department can't issue enough waivers to solve everyone's problems.

I think we all might feel a little better if we could laugh about it.

What do you think? Would you like to see some of our local administrators make a video like this?
