I finally caught up on one of my favorite television shows, “Girls” on HBO, last night and spotted Elkhart’s very own Deirdre Lovejoy.
Lovejoy guest starred on an episode this season as Margot, playing an aunt of Lena Dunham’s character, Hannah. If you’re not familiar with the series, “Girls” follows four 20-somethings figuring out life and love in New York City. Lovejoy made an appearance in “Flo,” the ninth episode of season three, when Hannah learns that her grandmother is dying.
Lovejoy is the daughter of former Elkhart Truth entertainment editor Marcia Fulmer and started out with plays and musicals with Elkhart Civic Theatre at the Bristol Opera House.
Lovejoy’s extensive list of movie and television appearances includes roles in “Bones,” “Bad Teacher,” “Step Up” and one of my favorites, “The Wire” on HBO. She shared the stage in 2013 with actor Tom Hanks in Broadway’s “Lucky Guy.” I spoke to her about the play, written by Nora Ephron, last year: Lovejoy enjoying two roles as Hanks makes Broadway debut
Want another fun “Girls” fact? Adam Driver, who plays Dunham’s boyfriend in the series, grew up in Mishawaka.
