Heart City Health Center offers free health screenings, ice cream social

In addition to featuring a variety of health screenings, the events will have free food, games, face painting, a bounce house and more.

Heart City Health Center will celebrate National Health Center Week by offering free health services to the public. 

Free walk-in oral cancer screenings will be available in the dental department of the Heart City Health Center from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, at 236 Simpson Ave. in Elkhart.

A health fair and ice cream social will be hosted at the same location from 2 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13.

The event will feature free food, ice cream and toppings, games, face painting, a bounce house, drawings, giveaways and a yard sale, according to a press release from the center.

In addition to the fun, Heart City Health Center will provide free HIV screenings, vision screenings and blood pressure screenings. The South Bend Medical Foundation’s Bloodmobile will be onsite from 2 to 5 p.m. Aug. 13 to take blood donations. 

Elkhart Mayor Dick Moore will read a proclamation and give opening remarks at 2:30 p.m. Aug. 13.

Heart City Health Center is a non-profit, federally qualified health center that offers health and dental care to Elkhart County residents on a sliding fee scale.
