Center for Hospice Care offering volunteer training for a variety of tasks

Center for Hospice Care will offer volunteer training from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 19 and 26 at Mishawaka Campus.

MISHAWAKA — The Center for Hospice Care will offer volunteer training (a total of 15 hours) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 19 and 26 at Mishawaka Campus, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka. No previous health care experience is necessary.

Volunteers are needed for the following tasks: patient care, companionship, bereavement callers, office support, massage therapists, veteran volunteers to serve veteran patients, hair stylists and barbers, pet visitation, Camp Evergreen Grief Camp for Kids and life bio (capturing the life stories of patients). The Center for Hospice Care is also looking for individuals with licensure/certification in massage therapy, hair styling, pet visitation or notary public.

Following training, volunteers may assist patients and families in respite, transportation, laundry, errands, companionship or bereavement. Volunteers can serve patients in their homes, in nursing homes or may serve in office or clerical roles.
