ELKHART — Heart City Health Center will hold the grand opening of its second clinic in the city on Saturday, May 31.

The event is set to go from 1 to 3 p.m. with remarks to start at 1:30 p.m. The facility is at 148 W. Hively Ave., Suite 1, within the Woodland Crossing shopping complex.

The new facility, funded in part with money earmarked within the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, will be able to serve around 3,500 people, on top of the 11,000 served at its main location at 236 Simpson Ave.

Heart City is a nonprofit health clinic geared primarily to the uninsured and low-income people. The new clinic, in the works for around two years, is to be called SCENIC Health, SCENIC standing for South Central Elkhart Northern Indiana Clinic.

Officials earlier said the new facility was to start formal operations June 3.
