COA programs cover health care policy, social security

Cass County Council on Aging presents two workshops Thursday: “The Evolution of Health Care Policy" and "Maximizing Social Security."

CASSOPOLIS, Mich. - Cass County Council On Aging will present the program “The Evolution of Health Care Policy: From Medicare to Obamacare” from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Lowe Center, 60525 Decatur Road., and 1 to 2:30 p.m. at Front Street Crossing, 227 S. Front St., Dowagiac.

Jack Strayer, a former Washington D.C. public policy consultant, will describe where health care in the United States has been and where it is headed. He will include information about the Affordable Care Act and allow time for questions.

The workshop “Maximizing Social Security” will be presented from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Lowe Center.

Philip Ellis, an investment advisory representative and certified senior advisor, will discuss how to make informed decisions regarding Social Security.

The fee is $12 to cover workbook costs. Spouses can attend and receive a workbook at half-price. Light refreshments will be served. Workbooks are limited and reservations are required. Reserve a spot as soon as possible. Walk-ins are not guaranteed materials.
