SOUTH BEND – RiverBend Cancer Services will continue the “Living Well with Cancer” series in April. The free, educational series addresses physical, emotional and psychological changes and challenges that can result from cancer treatment.
Programs will take place at RiverBend Wellness Center, 919 E. Jefferson, South Bend, or Michiana Hematology Oncology Advanced Center for Cancer Care, 5340 Holy Cross Parkway, Mishawaka. The series is free and open to cancer patients, survivors, their families, caregivers and anyone who has been touched by cancer.
Upcoming programs are:
- "Financial Fix: The Cost of Cancer," 10 a.m. April 3 at Michiana Hematology Oncology, Mishawaka. Bonnie Miller, patient assistance specialist, will discuss the financial side of cancer diagnosis and help participants develop a realistic financial plan.
- "What’s the Link? Genetics,
" 10 a.m. April 10 at Michiana Hematology Oncology, Mishawaka. Gretchen Skurla, M.S., will explore the relationship of genetics and cancer.
- "Lymphedema: Isn’t That Swell?
," 10 a.m. April 22 at RiverBend Wellness Center. Joanne Hartman, P.T., will explore the causes and treatments of lymphedema. Participants will learn about serious symptoms and when individuals should seek immediate help.
- "You’d be Wise to Exercise
," 10 a.m. April 29 at RiverBend Wellness Center. Sarah Strefling, cancer fitness specialist, will present about the value of exercise and demonstrate simple exercises.
