Music and dance comes to the Lerner Theatre on Thursday night, Aug. 7, as the Indiana University South Bend Dance Company performs “A Celebration of Dance.”

The performance concludes the 2014 Doloris C. Cogan IU South Bend Summer Theatre Series and features a variety of dance styles performed by more than 25 dancers, said Carolynn Hine-Johnson, artistic director for the dance company.

“I’m excited about the whole thing, we have a lot of students that choreographed their own numbers,” said Hine-Johnson. “They’re amazing, I was pretty blown away by them.”

Backing them up will be composer, guitarist and vocalist Bryan Edington. Among his own music will be a contemporary Native American dance piece composed specifically for the IU South Bend Dance Company.

The performance starts at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, at the Lerner. Tickets are available through the Lerner Theatre Box Office or 800-294-8223.
