BRISTOL — School may be out for the summer, but Elkhart Civic Theatre’s youth theater class still has a final to present — one fit for an audience.

The theatre’s ECTeam Youth Theatre group will perform “Storyteller’s Theatre” and “Going…Going…Gone with the Breeze” at the Bristol Opera House, 210 E. Vistula St., at 7 p.m. Friday, June 20, and Saturday, June 21.

Both shows will present the work of a two-week theater class for local kids from 8 to 18.

The younger group, ages eight through 11, will perform “Storyteller’s Theatre,” featuring “Little Red and Cowboy Hat,” a retelling of Little Red Riding Hood, the Jewish folktale “What a Wonderful Life!” and “Peddler Polly and the Story Stealer,” a modern fable.

The group was taught by Annette Kaczanowski and learned acting skills, vocal projection, character development and stage technique.

Elkhart Civic’s older class, ages 12 to 18, will present an hour-long musical “Going…Going…Gone With the Breeze,” directed by Mary Norwood. The show is a spoof on “Gone with the Wind,” adapted by Tim Kelly and Bill Francoeur.

The story follows Peggy Tempest, a temperamental actress who was just offered the lead role in the movie adaptation of a popular book, “Gone with the Breeze,” when Cindy Lou Harper, a charming newcomer, shows up and blows producers away.

ECTeam Youth worked on all facets of musical theatre, including singing, acting, dancing and stage presence, to prepare for the performance.

Tickets are on sale for $5. Call the theatre at 574-848-5853 Monday through Friday from 1 to 5:30 p.m. Tickets are also available online.
