The event features a number of different performers, from magicians, clowns, jugglers and gymnasts to a drum ensemble. Ronald McDonald, mascot for fast food chain McDonald’s, will also make an appearance at the weekend event.
The festival has a variety of different gastronomical treats, such as apple dumplings, old-time salt water taffy and old-fashioned sodas and frappés. Attendees can also feast their eyes on the paintings on display at the Elkhart Art League’s exhibition on 511 Baldwin Street.
There will also be a number of musical performances to move your feet to, from rock ’n’ roll bands to Motown singers. Beatles tribute band BritBeat will perform songs from the British band’s storied musical career on Friday night. The Motown Sounds of Touch will perform songs from Earth, Wind and Fire and other classic pop and R&B songs on Sunday.
The festival will be from 5 p.m. to midnight Friday, noon to midnight on Saturday and noon to 8 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $1 after 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The event is free on Sunday. You can get to Island Park from the walking bridges located at Lundquist-Bicentennial Park, Pulaski Park and Sycamore Street.
The event is held on the second weekend of June every year.
