Kennedy’s Kitchen performs at Fridays by the Fountain

When : 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. on Friday, June 6.

Where : Jon R. Hunt Plaza at 211 North Michigan St., South Bend.

The Morris Performing Arts Center brings a live concert series to the Jon R. Hunt Plaza in front of the Morris Theater every other Friday between the months of June and August. The event will feature music from local Blues, Jazz, Rock, Folk and Country bands. This Friday’s performance features Kennedy’s Kitchen, a South Bend band whose music is rooted in traditional Irish music.


South Bend First Fridays

When : 5 p.m. on Friday, June 6.

Where : Downtown South Bend, Michigan Street, South Bend.

First Fridays return to downtown South Bend, and this month’s theme is ‘Dog Days of Summer’. The event will feature many canine-themed events, such as a skill demonstration by the South Bend Police Department’s K9 Unit and an ugly dog contest. If animals are not your thing, there will also be store discounts, music performances and family-friendly activities.


2014 Summer Outdoor Film Series: Singin’ in the Rain

When : 9 p.m. on Friday, June 6.

Where : Gridiron Plaza at College Football Hall of Fame at 111 South St. Joseph Street in South Bend.

Downtown South Bend, Inc., has partnered with the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center to bring three outdoor screenings of classic films this summer at the Gridiron Plaza. This Friday’s free movie will be Singin’ in the Rain. Attendees are encouraged to bring their blankets, chairs and snacks.


Free Fishing Days

When : Saturday, June 7, and Sunday, June 8.

Where : List of locations where you can fish.

Hoosiers will not need a fishing license or trout/salmon stamp to fish at Indiana’s public waters this weekend. Don’t know how to fish? Families can learn how to fish at weekend events held in Carmel, Bloomington and Edinburgh.


Super Duper Lil Chefs Event

When : 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 7.

Where : University Park Mall at 6501 Grape Road, Mishawaka.

Simon Kidgits Club will host the Super Duper Lil Chefs Event at the University Park Mall, a free culinary event that teaches children about the fun side of food through hands-on activities. Participants are also encouraged to bring non-perishable foods to donate to local hunger relief organizations. 


South Bend Record & CD Collector’s Show

When : 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 8.

Where : Comfort Suites at 52933 U.S. 933, South Bend.
