41st Annual Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition

When: 9 a.m. Friday, May 9; 8:30 a.m. Saturday, May 10; and 11 a.m. Sunday, May 11.

Where: DeBartolo Performing Arts Center at 100 Performing Arts Center in Notre Dame.

The Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition is one of the largest chamber music competitions in the world, according to its website. There will be brass and woodwind quintets, string quartets, piano trios and more instrumental music. Tickets are required for the Awards and Gold Medalists concert on Sunday. Where: West Market Street in Nappanee.

Nappanee Second Saturdays will feature family-friendly events and activities. Local businesses will also offer sales and specials during the event.

 

Second Saturday Celebrating Mothers at Coppes Commons

When : 10 a.m. Saturday, May 10.

Where : Coppes Commons at 401 E. Market St. in Nappanee.

Coppes Commons will celebrate Mother’s Day early by offering exclusive deals and treats to mothers. A special coupon book will be given out upon arrival at Coppes Commons, and Rocket Science Ice Cream will host children’s activities.

  

IndianaFIRST State Robotics Championship

When : 9 a.m. Saturday, May 10.

Where : North Side Gymnasium at 300 Lawrence St. in Elkhart.

IndianaFIRST State Robotics Championship will feature teams from around the state competing against each other using pre-programmed robots.

 

Music of the American Experience of Snite Museum of Art

When : 4 p.m. Saturday, May 10.

Where : Snite Museum of Art at 100 Moose Krause Circle in Notre Dame.

The Snite Museum of Art will host a concert featuring art songs, a poem with piano accompaniment, that explores the wistful, nostalgic aspects of the American character. The performance will feature poetry by Emily Dickinson and Langston Hughes.
