Downtown First Friday
The Music Village in downtown South Bend will be hosting a series of short dance and music classes. Lots of musical instruments will be on hand for people to try out. Here's the schedule of free classes:
- Salsa Sampler from 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
- Ballroom Dancing Class from 6 p.m. to 6:50 p.m.
- Swing Class from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
- Open Jam from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Arabic Culture Night
Notre Dame students taking Arabic classes will perform songs, dances, a play and music. The event will take place from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Mendoza School of Business' Jordan Auditorium on Notre Dame's campus.
Marty Miles Band
The band, which plays a mix of folk and rock music, will be playing at 9 p.m. at Lasalle Kitchen and Tavern in South Bend, located at 115 W. Colfax Ave.
This band, which told The South Bend Tribune its influences are The Beatles, Led Zepplin, Thin Lizzie, soul music, and rhythm and blues, will play at 9:30 p.m. at Phoenix Bar and Grill in Mishawaka.
Saturday, April 5
The Spring Craft Show at The Old Bag Factory
The annual event's third installment will feature a variety of local, handmade items including jewelry, clothing, pottery, glasswork and sculptures. The show will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Old Bag Factory in Goshen, located at 1100 N. Chicago Ave.
Goshen College baseball game
The Goshen College Maple Leafs will play Indiana Wesleyan University. The game starts at 1 p.m. at Goshen College's Baseball Complex, located at 1700 S. Main St. in Goshen.
Brian Manzo, a Notre Dame student, will perform an organ recital at 2 p.m. at the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center on Notre Dame's campus. Though the performance is free, attendees must reserve tickets.
Wild Birds Unlimited in Mishawaka will be hosting a free seminar on hummingbirds. Attendees will get the chance to learn about the birds' behavior, migration patterns and how to best manage feeders for them. The store is located at 6502 N. Grape Road, Suite 842.
Second Annual Parseghian Cup
Notre Dame's rugby team will play the Arizona Wildcats at 7 p.m. at Stinson Rugby Field, located near at the intersection of Douglas Road and Wilson Drive in South Bend. Donations will be taken at the game to benefit the Ara Parseghian Medical Research Foundation for Niemann-Pick Type C (NPC).
The Ember Jar
The band will be playing at 9 p.m. at Lasalle Kitchen and Tavern, located at 115 W. Colfax Ave. in South Bend. According to the event's Facebook page, the band will play a mix of classic covers and original songs with an upbeat, soulful flair.
Goshen College Senior Show II
Four Goshen College seniors will put on an exhibit for their artwork. The event serves as the culmination of the seniors' studio work at the school. The exhibit will be open all day and is located in the Hershberger Art Gallery at Goshen College, 1700 S. Main St. in Goshen. The Marriage of Figaro
Goshen College's music and theatre departments teamed up to put on The Marriage of Figaro, which a sequel to The Barber of Seville. The play will begin at 3 p.m. at Goshen College's Umble Center, located at 1700 S. Main St. in Goshen.
Free Family Sunday at the Ruthmere
The Ruthmere will open its doors to the public at no charge between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Sunday. The Ruthmere is located at 302 E. Beardsley Ave. in Elkhart.
