GOSHEN — With his trusty camera at his side, Jan Gleysteen has chased trains for more than a half century from coast to coast and across five continents.
The Indiana Model Train Visitors Club is hosting an entertaining and educational program featuring Gleysteen at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, at the Evergreen Place on Goshen’s Greencroft campus, 1721 Greencroft Blvd.
Gleysteen will present a lecture titled “Rails West” featuring trains of the past and present between Chicago and the West Coast. His presentation will also feature logging railroads in the Pacific Northwest, mining operations in Utah and Arizona, narrow gauge railroads in the Rockies and so-called “granger” railroads, which have a booming business during the harvest season and remain nearly dormant for the rest of the year.
The lecture is free and open to the public, but donations will be appreciated.
