ELKHART — Pastors at Trinity United Methodist Church are going to be busy Valentine's Day with one wedding scheduled almost every half hour from noon to 7 p.m.

The Elkhart church on East Jackson Boulevard decided to offer free wedding ceremonies to couples on Feb. 14. Ten happy couples signed up to tie the knot at the church's chapel and sanctuary.

The couples met with lead pastor Mark Dicken this past weekend to talk about covenants of marriage, finances and other issues that may come up during their marriage. The brides and grooms will meet with Dicken one more time before they walk down the aisle to talk about the wedding service.

"It was a real cross-section of people," senior associate pastor Karen Bray said. "Some had been thinking about getting married for a long time, but because of money or schedules, they haven't been able to do it. We're excited about the opportunity to minister to these couples and to give them the gift of marriage."
