ELKHART — The Healthy Beginnings Program of Elkhart County received the 2013 Covering Kids & Families of Indiana Community Leadership Award at a program luncheon Dec. 3.
The award recognizes an exemplary partner who models effective practices, leadership, dependability, innovativeness, teamwork and commitment to improving health care access and outcomes.
Healthy Beginnings Program services include prenatal care coordination, dental services for children and administration of Women, Infants and Children services, providing efficient and low-barrier access to medical care and support services.
Through its Health Babies Prenatal Care Coordination service, Healthy Beginnings serves approximately 1,500 at-risk pregnant women per year whose birth outcomes exceed state averages on measures of first-trimester prenatal care, birth weight, breastfeeding and tobacco cessation.
