‘Living Well with Cancer’ dates announced for December

SOUTH BEND RiverBend Cancer Services will continue the “Living Well with Cancer” series in December.
The free series addresses the physical, emotional and psychological changes and challenges resulting from cancer treatment. Programs take place at RiverBend Wellness Center, 919 E. Jefferson, or Michiana Hematology Oncology Advanced Center for Cancer Care, 5340 Holy Cross Parkway, Mishawaka.
It’s open to cancer patients, survivors, their families, caregivers and anyone who has been touched by cancer. Refreshments will be served. Space is limited; reservations are encouraged. To reserve a spot call 287-4197.
“Who Cares?” will be 10 a.m. Dec. 3 at RiverBend Wellness Center. Participants will explore the role of the caregiver and learn tips to take care of themselves.
“Holiday Open House” will be 3 to 5 p.m. Dec. 12 at RiverBend Wellness Center. Featured activity will be ornament making.
“The New American Plate—Not Your Mother’s Sunday Dinner” will be 10 a.m. Dec. 17 at Michiana Hematology Oncology. Heather Borsa, R.D., CSO, CD, will present on the American Institute for Cancer Research’s New American Plate. Participants will explore the model that emphasizes foods that reduce risk for cancer and other chronic illnesses. Participants will also receive a guide and checklist to help formulate healthy plates.
“ChemoBrain Calisthenics” will be 10 a.m. Dec. 19 at RiverBend Wellness Center Cancer. Participants will engage in activities, games and exercises to get the brain into shape after cancer treatment.
