GOSHEN — Centro-matic and South San Gabriel frontman Will Johnson is playing an intimate solo show with special guest Ernie Hendrickson next week at Ignition Garage in downtown Goshen.
Who is Will Johnson? Music reviewers have described singer-songwriter Will Johnson as “the perfect, solitary storyteller.” His latest album, “Scorpion,” marks his first solo release in eight years. When he’s not writing and playing music, Johnson spends time painting and exhibiting his art in galleries stretching from Texas to New York. He is a member of Monsters of Folk, an indie supergroup featuring M. Ward, My Morning Jacket’s Jim James and Bright Eyes’ Conor Oberst.
Who is Ernie Hendrickson? Born and raised in the Midwest, Ernie Hendrickson latched onto American roots music early in his life. His most recent album, “One for the Dreamers,” was recorded in rural Tennessee with drummer and producer Chad Cromwell, who has worked with artists such as Neil Young and Mark Knopfler. His record “Walking with Angels” spent more than 25 weeks in the top 20 on Roots Music Report’s folk charts and played on 100 radio stations across the country.
