ELKHART — Woodlawn Nature Center will host guided tours through their very haunted woods from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25, Saturday, Oct. 26 and Thursday, Oct. 31.
Along with the tours, Woodlawn will provide other family-oriented activities, including a campfire with songs, stories and s’mores where nothing scary is allowed.
This year’s theme is Grimm’s Haunting, featuring characters from Grimm’s fairy tales. A guide will lead each tour through the woods past staged scares and scenery. A tour into deeper, darker woods will be available to the more mature who want to experience more frightening aspects.
The Center will offer other attractions, refreshments and stories indoors. The cave, normally housed to dinosaurs, will feature bats and spiders. Special treats will be buried in the cave’s sandboxes for kids to discover and keep. Snakes and nocturnal creatures will be themed throughout the museum.
One of the haunted trails and the campfire will be free of charge. Three other premium trails and other attractions will be available with different fees. Rates are scaled to be family friendly. Deep discounts are available to Woodlawn Nature Center members and specials.
