Average cost of picnic $5.49 a person
The summer picnic menu includes several popular Fourth of July food items selected by the American Farm Bureau Federation.

Whether it’s a cookout party or a summer picnic, the average cost to feed 10 people is $54.89, or $5.49 per person, according to a survey.
The informal survey was conducted by Indiana Farm Bureau and the American Farm Bureau Federation, according to a press release.
Their summer picnic menu for 10 people consists of 2 pounds of ground round, a package of hamburger buns, a 1-pound package of mixed meat hot dogs, a package of hot dog buns, a pound of American cheese slices, 4 pounds of pork spare ribs, 3 pounds of deli potato salad, a 28-ounce can of baked beans, a bag of corn chips, 2 quarts each of pre-mixed lemonade and pre-mixed chocolate milk, 4 pounds of watermelon, a 20-ounce bottle of ketchup and a 16-ounce bottle of mustard.
Sixteen shoppers participated in IFB’s survey, and 60 shoppers in 22 states, including Indiana, participated in AFBF’s survey, according to the press release.
