Camp Evergreen accepting applications for campers, volunteers

MISHAWAKA — Camp Evergreen Youth Day Camp for youth ages 6 to 12 will be from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. June 8 at Bair Lake Bible Camp, 12500 Prang St., Jones, Mich. Camp Evergreen Teen Camp for teens ages 13 to 17 will be June 7-9 at Bair Lake Bible Camp.

Camp Evergreen is a free grief camp for youths and teens who have experienced the death of someone important in their life. “It can be a life-changing weekend for the children and volunteers,” said camp director Holly Farmer, “Along with opportunities for healing and sharing, the teens, youth and adults participate in many activities including swimming, canoeing, horseback riding and camp fires.”

Volunteers are needed to serve as adult buddies for youth campers, small groups of teen campers and to assist with camp activities. All volunteers must attend one three-hour training session offered from 6 to 9 p.m. May 13 at Center for Hospice Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend; 9 a.m. to noon May 17 at Life Transition Center, 215 Red Coach Drive, Mishawaka; and 6 to 9 p.m. May 23 at Center for Hospice Care. Campers and volunteers must complete applications. Transportation to and from camp is included.
