Center for Hospice Care looking for volunteers in Kosciusko, Elkhart and LaGrange counties

No previous health care experience is necessary for volunteers.

ELKHART — Center for Hospice Care needs volunteers in Kosciusko, Elkhart, and LaGrange counties and will offer training sessions from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. June 10, 12, 19, 25 and 27 at Center for Hospice Care, 22579 Old U.S. 20 East.

No previous health care experience is necessary. Training focuses on hospice philosophy, communication skills, spirituality, family dynamics, patient care and bereavement.

After completing the 15 hours of training, volunteers may assist patients and families with respite, transportation, laundry, errands, companionship or bereavement. Volunteers will serve patients in their homes, in nursing homes or in office or clerical roles.

Individuals with licensure/certification in massage therapy, hair styling, pet visitation skills or notary public licensure are also needed.
