“Passport” to Play monthly South Bend park events kick off Saturday

SOUTH BEND — HealthWorks! Kids’ Museum, South Bend Parks and Recreation Department and the Reducing Obesity Coalition of St. Joseph County are collaborating to offer monthly “Passport to Play” events at South Bend parks from April through September. The free events will offer families a chance to enjoy the parks, exercise and enhance health and well-being. April’s event, “Walk The Walk,” is set for 9 to 11 a.m. April 20 at Potawatomi Zoo, 500 S. Greenlawn Ave. Participants will meet at the zoo at 9 a.m. for a tour and then continue on to Potawatomi Park. Upcoming events include the following. “Let’s Get Growing” will be 10 a.m. to noon May 11 at the Unity Gardens at LaSalle Square, 3701 Prast. “The Great Outdoors” will be 2 to 4 p.m. June 12 at Rum Village Park Nature Center, 2626 S. Gertrude St. “On Top of the World” will be 10 a.m. to noon July 20 at East Race Waterway, 126 N. Niles Ave. “Nautical Adventures” will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 3 at Potawatomi Park, 2000 Wall St. “ROC UR Body” will be 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 13 at Howard Park, 604 E. Jefferson Blvd.
